Unlike many global resource projects, the Virginia Gas Project is homegrown. Renergen is a South African company, listed on both the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). The project has been rolled out in phases:
Phase 1 demonstrated that the gas could be safely extracted, processed, and sold on a small scale.
